Technology Partnership

AMPEG and HiScout implemented the first 'Security Management Round Trip' worldwide by forming a technology partnership. Their collaboration enables the comparison between security requirement information specific to information assets and the actual security status in near real-time. This data exchange delivers enormous added value to companies interested in the low-level implementation of compliance directives in their day-to-day operations.

The interaction between the Security Level Management solution AMPEG Security Lighthouse, and the HiScout GRC Suite from the software developer HiScout GmbH , enables information on the security status to be combined for the first time in near real-time with directives and classification data concerning the protection requirements of the computer system. Using the resulting enhanced information base, security managers can take focused action to improve both the quality of IT security and the information security management system. The interaction between the two solutions also allows for more precise risk assessment of the company's IT systems based on the status determined.

The permanent comparison of the actual security status for systems classified as highly critical allows for enhanced quality assurance for systems within the assessed business processes.

In the HiScout GRC Suite all the systems in a network are assessed in consideration of the supported business processes, the protection category and the criticality. The information about the current status of the systems is readout of the AMPEG Security Lighthouse data pool via an interface and added to the HiScout database. An automatic import process makes it possible for the user to evaluate the current security status of the systems assessed regarding the actual protection level (actual status) achieved in HiScout.

AMPEG Security Lighthouse transfers the information on the protection categories and the criticality of the systems from HiScout to its database. The security status of the systems can thus be assessed on the Security Information Map and AMPEG Security Lighthouse charts, based on the criticality and protection category. For instance, if the patch status at a location is unsatisfactory, prioritization of the requisite actions can take place for the first time based on the protection requirement.

This allows companies to monitor highly critical systems, enhance the quality of the protection level targeted exactly at the business processes, and reduce the residual risk to a minimum.
